Preparing for the future
An energy company that serves over half a million electricity customers and nearly 300,000 natural gas customers across its province relied upon an on-premises IT infrastructure that was approaching its end of life.
As the infrastructure continued to age, its maintenance costs had increased. In addition, end users faced inefficiencies and roadblocks, especially when communicating between office locations and field sites.
Facing down these challenges, the company decided to search for an IT partner that could design and implement a modernization strategy.
Transforming collaboration
Insight leveraged multiple Microsoft® solutions to deliver a comprehensive overhaul of the client’s existing collaboration infrastructure.
We deployed Exchange Online to centralize users’ email, calendars and contacts, and chose Skype for Business as a meeting and messaging platform. In order to simplify document collaboration and sharing, we implemented OneDrive® for Business and Office Professional Plus.
In the process of delivering these applications, we provided first-line worker licenses for field service employees. These licenses equipped them with tools that are optimized for their specific customer engagement needs, but still integrated with organization-wide systems.
Accelerated teamwork
Empowered with modern collaboration tools, employees across the company reported an improved user experience and more effective communication across branches, as well as between offices and the field.
In addition, after the new system was implemented, the organization saw a significant reduction in ongoing maintenance costs.
